Hopes for the "Big Nine" champion
ship, and along with it, a claim to the
Western championship, rose in the
breasts of the Gopher rooters, when
they held the overbearing Maroons to
a 0 to 0 tie, in Saturday's game, at
Madison. The serious injury of "Dolly"
Grav. star half for Chicago, at a most
critical time, helped the Gophers considerably.

Still another tie was the result of
the Kansas-Oklahoma game, the core
being 16 to 16. Just why each team
chose the unusual number 16, as a
place to stop scoring, it Is Impossible
for us to say. Perhaps the blowing of
the final whistle had something to do
with it.

The Missouri Tigers defeated the
Kansas Aggies 13 to 3, Saturday. Mis
souri now pretends to hope (notwith
standing her defeat at the hands of
Ames), for a victory over Kansas,
which, she fondly points out, will put
her on a par with any team in the
conference If Kansas beats Nebraska.
How's that for an optimistic outlook?
