If you want a great football team for the latter part of the season you must have stiff competition the early games of the schedule. Washburn furnished our Iluskers all they wanted for the initial contest. What would a big score have availed us? Perhaps a chance to boast and have our hopes disap pointed later. South Dakota may lick us (mure conjecture but highly possi ble). Such a drubbing might be the means of making the team a real team tv.o weeks later when victory means real victory. Wbat will our corn-fed heroes do with the "Coyotes" from South Da kota? The howl from the northern prairies would indicate a mighty pack. They are "old dogs" too, and are 6aid to have migrated from many climes. Cfiptain Ferguson has played four years and should know a few tricks of the game by this time. Center Potts is of the same age as the leader. In their wake Broks, Willy, Brown, Hengle, McCormick and Vidal are ex perienced foragers who claim to have pillaged more fertile fields than those of Nebraska. Let 'em come! The vesper service was held at five in the association rooms. Immediate ly afterward the girls adjourned to the Armory, where a picnic supper was served. The topic of the vesper service was "The Nebraska Girl in China." Miss Blanchard spoke with great force on the need of loyal workers. She com plimented the Nebraska association on its splendid pledge of fifteen hun dred dollars, and urged the g'ris not to lose sight of the larger meaning of the campaign. Through her descrip tion of special cases of need, she made a strong appeal to all present The situation was vivid to her hear ers. She mentioned the recent con tact between East and West and the growth of new ideas in China, show ing especially how Chinese women at last have -a chance to realize the in trinsic fineness of their womanhood. One of the inspiring thoughts of her talk was that American women have been able to stir Chinese women to a knowledge of their worth and power. She spoke of this 'as the touch of "life on life." Miss Mayhew spoke especially of Miss Coppock's joy In being supported by her own university. She told of the new position the Nebraska asso ciation has attained. She said that Miss Coppock has carried the true spirit of Christianity to China. Education Goes Up.
