The Opportunity of the Undergraduate
Medical Student Lies in His
Dally Life."
Dr. H. Winnott Orr.
Undergraduate medical students,
llko other uncTorgraduato students Ih
the University, are engaged In a seri
ous e"ffor to qualify for larger service
as graduates in an Important profes
sion. To those of us in professional
work for some years ,this special num
ber of the Nebraskan represents somo
thing which, while not new, has under
gone a remarkable development since
the days when we were college stu
donts. .
This is the "Increased emphasis
which is being placed not only upon
the student body as a separate com
munity, but upon the opportunities
which the student members of this
community have for service to the
University as a whole and to each
other.
Examples might be quoted of those,
who while, still students were called
to make a final account of their ser
vices to their fellow men and who
stood well In that "final examination"
which wer all TnuBtr face. Still others
are enrolled upon, the enduring list of
thosew hose service TTad already won
them j)laco and honor with their Uni-
omas-barely-won.
