Quite Right!
"In many respects this 1913 football
machine is one of Nebraska's greatest
aggregations during the twenty or
more years that we have been string
ing along with tho sport. The team
is Bhy of beef, especially in the line
and Nebraska lines generally have had
plenty of weight in addition to which
most of the players are In their first
year on the 'varsity. Yet they have
whipped Minnesota, Ames and Kansas,
in addition to several foes of lesser
caliber, and to date have a clean slate
a record possessed by very few of
the top notch elevens in intercolle
giate football. The writer has had at
least a fair opportunity to study and
compare Nebraska teams, and he is
frank to say that the 1913 squad has
derived most of its success from its
splendid fighting spirit. There are
"Beveral great football players on the
Nebraska eleven this fall, but their
best asset is their spirit their de
termination never to give in. The
Iowa Hawkeyes have been running up
several fat scores this year, but if
they expect to pull that line of stuff
on tho Cornhuskers, the Iowans may
as well get over the notion. Tho
Hawkeyes, for Instance, piled up more
than seventy points on Northwestern,
nearly as many on Indiana, and up
ward of forty at the expense of the
Ames Aggies. It la unquestioned that
the Iowans are lugging a fine line of
football goods, but when a winning
team scores as frequently as Iowa has
done, it often means that the losing
eleven, providing it has any material
knowledge of football, must have

Football fans are getting on to the
fact that the Indians should not be
rated so highly, considering their
training and the fact that they play
under no eligilibillty rules.
"Eastern football writers are feat
uring Guyon, one of the Carlisle red
skins, and styling him the greatest of
all present football stars. It should
not occasion astonishment that Guyon
has learned at least a few of the finer
points of the game of the gridiron.
Something like a dozen years ago
Guyon, then conspicuous for his red
hat and his speed, was playing the
game with Haskell on Nebraska field.
He was a star evjBJi then, yet Glenn
Warner gets the credit for Guyon's
development at Carlisle." Lincoln
