GOOD PRACTICE FOR LAWS
Better Facilities and New System of
Work Provide for Important
Branch of Legal Training.
The tacilities in the new Imw build
ing together with the plan ol all days
have added a great deal ot interest
to the practice court work in the Col
lege of Law. The practice is divided
into two courses, Court Practice I and
Court Practice II, both of which are
conducted by Prof. Foster The first
course Is for juniors and consists for
the most part of cases betore the
justice of the peace. Court Practice
II Is for the seniors and consists of
probate, district court cases and ap
pellate work. The court room and
clerk's oftice are not fully furnished
as yet, but substitutions are made so
that the work is not delayed.
Dean Hastings declares that he is
more and more convinced of the Im
portance of practice court work and
that law students should learn to ap
preciate the reality of legal controver
sies and their nature. Besides trying
cases, students are required to re
port cases attended in the local courts
and in the supreme court. Mr. Lea
rner, the clerk of the district court
for the college of law, and Mr. Gill,
the deputy and secretary, are anxious
to get their offices furnished in order
to simplify the work and keep track
of the flies.
