the outlook for greater expansion was
never moro rosy.
The characteristic thing about the
University's social growth lias been
the adjustment of more work to more
play. The efllclency of Nebraska stu
dents has increased Fuller than ever
before hns been this year's collection
of Friday and Saturday programs No
student willing to await the week-end
for his amusementhas been obliged to
go out of the University for his en
tertainment. Work has been equally
progressive and satisfactory. Students
have appreciated as never before the
purposo of their existence here. In
scholarship, the fraternities have phe
nomenally improved, and the general
scholastic efllclency of the University
is indeed a cause for much very real
optimism.
What haB made this expansion pos
sible is the individualistic character of
Nebraska students. The fact that the
Nebraska student supports only such
activities as those in which he expects
to achieve personal excellence is cause
for renewed hope and confidence in
the ability of the student body to xid

"Shucks," is the last division, which
is perhaps the one most dwelt upon,
for it is the department of the "humor
istocrats" in other words, the Joke
section. New and startling surprises
and novel features characterize this
section, and unconventional episodes
are shown which will cause many vic
tims of the jokester to "lav 'for th
editor." One thing is certain, In spite
of the name of this department, a
reader will not bo disappointed and
say "Aw Shucks," when he finishes
reading it.
