The fact that the junior play was a
financial failure must be attributed to
causes quite apart fioni an Improper
selection ot the drama It was quite
generally known that the cast began

play was staged This fact no doubt,
preented the sale of tickets to peo
pie who are afraid that they won t get
their money's worth Furthermore,
the junloi amateurs had to follow Soth
ern and Morlow. and therefore the
week's Htock of theatregoers was more
than exhausted by the exceptional and
costly Shakespearian productions Add
to these facts, the need ot more ex
tended publicity for so representative
an aMhity as a class play, and you
hae many other causes to put the
play in the hole besides a sudden and
serious decent into tiagedy
