TUCKERMAN IN CHARGE J Stiehm's huRkles wore sent on their way to the supreme Btruggle with Min nesota last evening at 6 o'clock. All the bunch was there and CornhuBker spirits and hope for a victory rose con siderably Speeches were called for and "Jumbo" himself announced that Coach Williams was to Iobo a certain goat within a day or so This is a now line of talk from the coach, as ho has been counting on a terribly stiff Jlght If victory was to be thought of Frank, Purdy, Ross, Halligan all gave out the dope that their purposo in going to Minneapolis was to win Dr Maxey made his customary talk on enthu siasm. Eighteen men were on the car when the whistle blew A full squad is being taken. Captain Frank and his men are going Into the game tomorrow to win. The CornhuBkers held their last practice before going to Minnesota yesterday afternoon on the athletic field. The practice consisted chiefly of running signals and light work For a few minutes the varsity was lined up against the freshmen and the plays were walked through in order to give the subs a chance to see how some of the plays work in case they might be called ipon In the signal practice Potter and Towle took turns and the plays were run off with speed and accuracy. All except Harmon and Purdy are In fair shape, and by the time of the game Saturday they will be in better trim, although Harmon's ankle will be pretty weak Coach Williams has been working his men hard the laBt two weeks try ing to develop green material, accord ing to advices received from Minne sota. More troubles were added to his list with the Injury of Solem, and although he has five men who are try ing hard for the position, it Is likely that he will make quite a change In the line Hut even with the absence of Solem the Cornhuskers will have to play or take the same medicine they did last year The Gopher line is light and wiry and has lots of fighting spirit to overcome its lack of weight The Minnesota team depends upon Tollefson and Hay ward to do most of their heavy work Tol lefson, the quarterback, does all of the kicking for the Gophers, and iB very good at drop kicking. Ho 1b also very fast on his feet and good at carrying the ball Hayward, who plays half back, is full of fight and plays the game all of the time, and 1b especially gcd on end runs.
