DR. AVERY SPEAKS TO OMAHA
HIGH SCHOOL STUDENTS ON
HIGHER EDUCATION.
To the two hundred and seventy
five members of the graduating class
of the Omaha high school Chancellor
Avery delivered an addresB on Thurs
day morning setting forth the advan
tages of higher education. He told
"what the large universities of the
"west were doing as compared to the
eastern universities nnd he mentioned
in particular some of the advantages
derived at Nebraska.
"The average man without a college
education is like a ten-horse power
engine," d"clared the chancellor in
tho course of his address. "It is the
man who has the college education
that can climb the steep hill oL buc
cgbs, while the man of ten horse-power
learning must climb in the lower
altitudes "
The chancellor was induced to make
the trip to Omaha throughthe efforts
of Omaha alumni in the University,
and especially by tho Omaha club
which is striving to bring more Oma
ha students to Nebraska instead of
their going to eastern schools.
