The Engineering Boclety was orgnn
lzed In the year 1900 and originated
in the brain of Bruco Benedict, M. E
'01, now director of the Bhop labora
torlos at the University of IllinoiH
Prior to 1900 there was In the in
dustrial college a flourishing electrical
engineers society and a mediocre
civil engineers' club. There waB no
mechanical engineers' organization
Mr. Benedict, being a mechanical
engineer, was left out, as it woro, and

The aim of the society Ib to bring
before its members prominent en
gineers, and also to keop the men in
the variouB departments in closer

about two-thirds of the entire enroll
ment of Vho engineering college and
it 1b hoped that before Engineers'
Week Is over many more names will
be added to the list. The prosent aim
of the society Is to make every en
gineer a member, thus marking It the
strongest organization in the Univer
sity.

college has been changed from an
annual to a soml-annual, because thore
1b enough material for two issues, and
also because all of the universities the
size of Nebraska or larger support
more than one copy a year of the en
gineering publication The Univer
sity of Mlnnetibta supports a quarterly,
Michigan a semi-annual and Wlscon
sla a monthly
The Blue Print sells for 50 cents a
copy and with each one 1b given a
copy of tho similar publications of
Colorado, Minnesota and Michigan.
Every year exchanges are made with
tho schools mentioned above.
Posters will be put up either this
afternoon or tomorrow announcing
where the Blue Print can be obtained

by the "Journal of Industrial and En
gineering , Chemistry," and will prob
ably appear in one of the spring is
