BOTANY DEPARTMENT ENRICHED Collections of Bamboo Trunks and Ferns Are Contributed. Charles E. Chowens; who is now in Panama, has jUBt sent tho botany de partment a third colection of bamboo trunks. Tho first' ho sent from Porto Rico, tho second from tho Philippines, and tho last from Panama City. In tho last collection was a section over five inches in diameter, this be ing tho largest piece tho botany de partment owns. It was tho base of a tree more than seventy feet high. Among other specimens tho botany department has received recently is a collection of about sovonty-flvo forns, sent by Mrs. Owen (Ruth Bryan) from Jamaico.
