CHANGES PLEASE STIEHM
NEBRA8KA MENTOR DI8CU8SE8
THE NEW FOOTBALL RULES.
Coach Btlohm of Nebraska dcclaros
that lio Ih more than satisfied with tho
rocommoudatloiiH for tho changos in
tho football rules and it is his opinion
that tho changos proposed will tend
to tnako tho game fully as speedy
whilo rendering It better for tho
spectators.
"It will bo slightly moro advantag
oous to tho stronger team to mako
tho changes," declares Coach Stlohm.
"Probably It will sot a slight premium
on heavier mon in the back field, but
a weak team will no longer bo ablo
to hold a team much Hh suporlora to a
tlo Bcoro, as by tho now gamo thoro
will be loss flukos, and moro scien
tific playing of tho gamo.
"A phonomenal kicker will not bo
of such value In tho future. Tho
changing of tho amount of touchdown
Bcoro from ilvo to six points Is a re
sult of tho popular demand for moro
touchdowns and loss field goals.
"I llko tho changes, and think It
will Improve tho game to havo tho
four downs for ton yufds and do not
consldor that this will at all tond to
mako tho gamo Iobb open. Toh rules
aro not radical, howovor, and football
will look muoh tho enmo to tho avor
agp spectator noxt fall."
Tho general trend of tho changes as
made by tho committco nie much in
harmony with suggestions mado by
Coach Stlehm.
