Wo will venture tho assertion that not ovor a dozon campus frequenters have noticed tfio self-appointed mascot of our school, who (hoo) greets us as we hurry by to 8 o'clock, and "hoo" keeps caroful watch of tho deserted campus during those long cold winter nights. This faithful guardian may bo seen at all hours of tho day snugly settled on tho branch of one of tho ever greens located between tho Library and tho Rag ofilce. Wo refer to tho gray screech owl whoso peculiar call has boon noticed by ovonlng attend ants at tho .Library. It is fitting and strictly proper that Nebraska should adopt aB maBcot a bird of such recognized wisdom, and wo may add further that tho owl has shown good judgmont In taking up its abodo so near to tho Rag office. "Birds of a foathor," etc. Wo hope that nothing will bo done to harm this intelligent bird which has chosen our campus as a peaceful dwolllng place.
