STUDENTS FEAR JERRY
WARNERJS DEPARTED
A rumor that Jerry Warner, who
has jUBt been elected captain of the
1912 CornhuBkor football team hud
left college caused no. little excite-'
mont on the campus yesterday.
It develops that the All-Missouri
Valldy quarterback has indeed mys
teriously departed from Lincoln. Ho
was first missed when ho did not ap
pear at the banquot tendered the
team -by Lincoln businoss men, Mon
day evening, and when again ho
failed to show up at the banquet in
Omaha Tuesday somo anxiety was
felt.
At the Kappa Sigma fraternity
house nothing was known savo that
Jerry had suddonly packed a suit case
and disappeared.
It is well known that the husky
quarterback has an intense antipathy
for publioity and praise, and it is
thought by some that he has loft for
a few days to avoid the showering

Jerry Warner.
Jerry is probably one of the best
known and liked men on the campus.
It is known that he is well up in
his studios in fact, is above the aver
age as a student-athlete, and those
in a position to know say lhat he 'will
be back within a day or two, or at
least immediately following Christmas
vacation.
Should he fail to finish the present
semester it is said he would be ineli
gible for football next fall.

HIGH AT TEMPLE SCHOOL
Templo High School has a basket
ball team entered in the City League
that is a wonder and looks as if it
could clean up anything tackled.
Starting out this year with a squad
of forty men, including last year's
stars, Chapln, Gutzmeyer, Arteburn.
The schedule is nearly full, but it
has a few opon dates for outside high
schools.
The City League contains teams
from the State Farm, Temple High,
Y. M. C. A. Juniors, Lincoln Academy,
Nebraska Military Academy, Lincoln
Business College, Lincoln High School,
and Nebraska School of. Business.

Girls Learn Dancing.
Tripping the light fantastic' toe, the
girls of the gymnasium will learn
dancing under Miss Day this winter.
The dancing club will meet from 3 to
4 o'clock on each Wednesday after
noon. No credit will" be given, but
thoro are a number of girls who have
already signed up for the .training.
