Maxoy was read at tho historical con
ference of .Clark University, hold in
Worcester, Mass., Novombor 23.
The subject of the paper was "Japanese-American
Relations as Affect
ing the Control of the Pacific." It
skotched tho development of competi
tion between American and Japaneso
vessels for the markets of China and
compared tho relative natural wealth
of tho two countries. War between
the two , countries, from a commercial
standpoint. Dr. Maxey considered Im
probable, for- tho difference between
tho languages is growing less, and
there is enough in common, to lead
them to work together.

for raising money foi tho support of

paigning would not nommencu until
after the Chrlstmus holidays.
Tho Y. M. C. A. Is badly In need of
tho support of the student body and
plans are mado bo as to. raise tho re
quired sum of $1,500.
One hundred and sovonty-two, stu
dents have come to the Y. M. C. A.
and voluntarily taken put member
