A paper written by Dr. Edwin
Maxoy was read at tho historical con
ference of .Clark University, hold in
Worcester, Mass., Novombor 23.
The subject of the paper was "Japanese-American
Relations as Affect
ing the Control of the Pacific." It
skotched tho development of competi
tion between American and Japaneso
vessels for the markets of China and
compared tho relative natural wealth
of tho two countries. War between
the two , countries, from a commercial
standpoint. Dr. Maxey considered Im
probable, for- tho difference between
tho languages is growing less, and
there is enough in common, to lead
them to work together.
, Diy Maxey was formerly counsel for
tho Japanese against the San Fran
cisco school board, and is considered
"anauthority on Japanoso-Ameri can-
questions. "" v '- Jf"
