At a special mooting of tho Intor- fratornlty Council last night tho Greek letter men of tho university voted to withdraw all claim to tho night boforo tho Michigan game as tho date for their annual banquet, on account of tho action of tho Innocents society in fixing tho date of tho annual Corn husker banquet as .November 25. Tho fraternity men decided to givo tho banquet at this time at a meeting last spring on account of tho largo number of their alumni who are ox pected to return for tho big game. Tho senior socioty having chargo of tho all-university affair later saw tho desirability of tho date, and applied for it Tho fratornlty council members woro instructed by their chapters to withdraw In favor of tho big football banquet, which it is now settled will bo given on November 25, following the Michigan game. One committee. Tho non-commlaloned ofllcors, who are entitled to places on tho big com mitteo, aro gotting ready to organizo their "Non-Corn Club" and select tho honored men for those committeo places. Last year both tho commissioned and non-commissioned mon had a manager or chairman and a master of ceremonies. This made a dual or ganization all around. It has not yot been decided just what tho form of the committeo this season will bo, but there is a movo on foot to do away with tho non-com chairman and master of coremonios. Big Cadet Event. Tho military ball Ib the ono big social event of tho cadot year. It is more prominent oven than tho annual band concert by tho cadot band. Ar rangements will bo made, bo members of the officers club state, to make tho danco this year oven more elaborate than tho one last soason. Chemists Buy Air Machine. A liquid air machine and a prossuro tank for use with tho, llqulfler have been ordered by tho chemistry de partment from Germany. . Due to tho action of Professor Stout of the Collogo of Engineering, tho en rollment in the Spanish department has considerably increased over that of last year. Beginning this semes ter, work in this department is cred ited by tho engineering faculty, hone several have availed themselves of loarnlng a little Mexican in connec tion with their shop work. Chancellor Avery was given a largo reception at Boise, Idaho, by the Idaho-Nebraska society, composed of former university students. Although somo agitation has boon raised on behalf of a fow students for a French club, nothing sooms to be stirring in that direction. Miss Conk lin, who controls, tho destinies of the romance students, feels that tho time is not yet ripe for such an organiza tion and is consequently not pushing: the project Thoro is, however, a flourishing conversation circle in the department which in many ways ful fills tho demand.
