Chancellor Avery Is at tho Univer sity of Minnesota to atend an educa tional convention. It 1b reported that Chancellor Avery will bo a guest of honor at today's big game. Nebraskans Suport Team. Including tho'bfnil, over one hun dred loyal Cornhuske'r backers aro es timated to have gone to seo the match on Northrup Field. Every fraternity and club sent somo representatives, several "pots" of money being made up by students and drawn for, the winner to pay his oxpensea with the money won. A number of tho Nebraska men wont Thursday evening with tho team in ordor to take in the social and oth er affairs planned at Minneapolis for laBt night. Still more left with the band yesterday evening. A committee of freshmen has been appointed by President Robert Mac Farland to co-operate with tho Y. M. C. A. social committee. It Is rumored, how over, that the team Is getting back to Its old time form, and Is perfect ing tho machine which has proven so invincible in the past. Tho team as It now standB or oven as it shall stand next Saturday (to day), is not necessarily tho perma nent Gopher eleven. The return of Rosenwald to tho gamo will probably mean a shift of Capron to quarter, Pickering taking full back, but this is not definitely decided. Stevens may be moved to full and Pickering remain at quarter. Wednesday being n holiday at Min nesota, tho Gophers had an especially strenuous day of practico. Two ses sions of practice were held and aU though very tiring for tho men, wont far toward perfecting a unified toam. Tho cross-country is an ovont that Is generally conceded to tho sopho mores, Kennedy being a member of tho cross-country squad, but tho fresh men havo a strong chance to win. It will bo about a three mile run, tho start and finish to bo on Nobraska Field. Manager Eager is sb proud of his nowly sodded pasture that ho has re quested that the tug-of-war bo hold somo other place. It will tako piaco probably at tho west end beyond tho goal posts.
