Printing Press to Historical Society.
Editor II. A. Brainerd of the Heb
ron Champion, has donated an old
fashioned -printing press to tho State
Historical society. It was made in
1851 and was tho first model put out
by George P. Gordon, the inventor of
tho Gordon press. The preBS was un
packed and sot up yesterday, and is
now on exhibition at the society's
rooms in tho basement of Library
hall.
Mr. Brainerd was in the city yester
day on business. He states that tho
press has had an Interesting" history
Blnco it came into his possession over
twonty-flve years ago. Probably more
than fifty men have had their fingers
smashed in the press. This is duo to
its peculiar construction, which makes
It dangerous for anybody to feed It.
It is run by foot-power.
