HONORING A PRESIDENT.
s
The University cadets have been
honored by an invitation to assist In j
the Taft parade on Monday. They
have accepted the honor also the re-
sponslbillty. They will turn out, ofTl
cers and .men alike, to do their duty
as military men.
They aro to do honor to the Presi
dent of tho United States. They arc
to act as his body guard. Without re
gard to political beliefs, four hundred
cadets will patrol the streets of Lin
coln. They will honor their nation by
honoring Its executive.
The President will be honoring the
cadets. In days of old knights fought
for places in the body guard of their
leader. The city of Lincoln will be
honoring the( cadets. They are to be-'
come for n few hours, the police and
protection of thousands of citizens and
visitors.
The cadets gladly accepted tho hon
or and along with It the responsibility.
They will be the servants of the pub
lic, tho guards to the President, the
police force of Lincoln and represen
tatives of the state of Nebraska and

ing. It Is, of course, true that these fig

of students who, at Bomo time or
other, contributed to Nebraska's ath

But they Indicate how great a majority
failed to do their best.
Nebraska's athletic teams are not,
perhaps, the source of her high stand
ing In the fields of knowledge. They
will perhaps be short-lived In tho mem

educational. But that they aro Ne
