Rumor that Ray Rice May Get Y. M.

work director of the Lincoln city Y.
M. C. A. At leaBt that Is tho unof
ficial report which conies from the
association. Rice has had consider
able experience In nsBocIatlon work,
retiring as president of the university
association (in April 1. Sam N. Fob
ter, the present incumbent of the di
rectorship, has resigned and will leave
about July 1 for a new position in the
west, and it 1b understood that Rico

8TRAY BULLET HIT8 WOMAN.
Mrs. Rogers Has Arm Injured Tues
day Afternoon.
Mrs. S. H. Rogers, 1100 U street,
was shot in tho arm Tuesday. It 1b
not known who Is responsible, but tho
university range detachment has been
given credit for the accident. It
seems that the range men have been
practicing on tho athletic Held for
some time. A heavy stono and steel
back has been, built for a stop behind
tho targets and target fence. The ac
cident happened at about 5:30 o'clock
In the evening, but no man In tho
company knew that any damage had
been done. ,,
. There 1b doubt In the minds of some
cadets. They do not "understand how
such a thing could happen, as all ar.e
always under strict discipline and
never shoot except at tho target.
Some asserted that the heavy strain
on the stone wall might have caused
some of tho stones to loosen and that
It might have been possible for the
shot to glance and lilt tho woman.
This solution of tho mystory seemed
quite plausible, and all Beemed to
agreo that nobody was at fault. It
was unavoidable and no actual blame
Is attached to the range detachment.
