A large shipment of about 1,200 spe
cies of plants was received from the
Philippine Islands for the botany de
partment Friday.
Alpha Warton, a prominent member
of the Dramatic club, left for Aurora
Friday to act as a Judge in a declama
tory contest at that place.
At the meeting of tho Komensky
club held last evening at tho homo of
J. H. Brt, 2410 Q street, a comic play
was presented by tho members.
A definite schedule for rehearsals of
the senior play has been arranged, and
the cast is busily engaged in getting
tho play In shape. Critics who have
seen tho play before declare that it
will be one of the best plays over
given by a university cast.
Jack Clark, ox-'10, Phi Kappa Psi,
who has been located in Oregon for
tho past year, will leave for Alaska
the first of the coming month. Mr.
Clark will be a member of an en
gineering party which Ib to leave for
the northern territory at that time.
Otto Ketone of Humboldt, who Iuib
represented Richardson county In the
state legislature for the past two ses
sions, was in the city to bo present
at the Phi Beta Kappa Initiation held
Friday evening. Mr. Kotouc recently
completed his course at the university
and was elected to that Boclety a few
weeks ago when the new members
were announced.
Registrar Harrison has received- nn
invitation to present; one of threo pa
pers before the National Convention
of Collegiate Registrars to be held in
Boston on August 7, 1911. 'These pa
pers precede discussions on subjects
such as "The Proper Delimitation of
the Functions of tho Registrar's Of
fice," -"'Uniform Blanks," especially iib
relates to the growing interchange of
students, and other topics that are
pertinent. Iast year tho convention
was held in Detroit.
Tast month the German club of, Co
lumbia university produced the same
play given under the auspices of the
German department of Nebraska at
tho Temple theater and In Omaha. Ac
cording to Professor Fossler we hnd

produce "Koepnickorstrnsso 120." Tho
production at Columbia was a very
elaborate one, It really being a Joint
enterprise of both 'Columbia and Bar
nard colleges. The play was given on
two consecutive evenings, with a mat
inee in between. It was very enthusi
astically received by crowded houses
at every performance, in that respect
resembling our local production.
One hundred thousand dollars is
given to Harvard, the mcomo after
the amount "reaches $150,000 to be
used for ' asslstalng worthy poor boys
seeking a college education, under the
terms of tho will of Harriet E. Godd
now of Sterling.
