Curtis William Jennings Bryan's speech at convocation was certainly of tho right sort. Tho value of such a testimony to students cannot bo overostlmated. Is tho largest or ganization in the' university. It haa the largoBt and tho best organized mothodB of work. In order to main tain such a machine, men aro needed. Tho Association needs men who are which is remembered after nil, else Is forgotten? t - r - , jr tRAINING. Tho greatest benefits of tho Y. M. 0. A. come to tho men who get into tho work. Tho greatest power comes to those Who do.ttB5 service. Every ono knows that the only compensa tion in Christian work of this kind is tho Joy of service. Then tho expres sions of men who have been helped is more than compensation. Therb nre ever so many men who attribute their success in bUBlncBS and In dealing with men to their experiences in Y. M. C. A. work. Dean Ringer Was th6 typo of man who put his best service into first things Ho counted, tho Y Mv C. A. among tho first. It was not above his studies, but it called forth his sacrifice. After all a work is not worth while unless it is worthy of sacrifice. In nearly every case the man who can deal with men, work with them and organlzo them can make a success in most any sort of business. Commit tee work is a most splendid sort of training. A committee, of fifty like the finance or membership affords this training. The leaders must make their plans and execute them. They must bo on guard with both eyes open. Tho men who have played the game this year have played like war horses, Faithfulness to duty Is a glorious tribute. Every hour tho men have put Into tho work has richly rewarded the Investors. Tho insufficiency of mediaeval term inology In foreign Christian work has boon proven long ago. Tho old Ideas of "martyrs to tho cannibals," "penny collections" and of "preaching to -naked-savages," are rolics of. th.ilayjL wnen uriemai countries were nrst open to fofeigners. In place of these wo find statesmanlike leaders occupy ing startegic positions and using keen foresight In their planB. Foreign gov ernments are calling on various Amer ican Christian agencies to supply them with all sorts of men for all Borts of positions teachers, engineers, bual- TAN BUTTON GUN BUTTON in that Glassy High Toe and High Heel 3.58 BUDD 1415 O St. BtudentB, representative men, athletes, and above all, men of pure motives and character.. Sueh men aro those who can stand most any kind of a tCBt. There must be no question about their characters. They must bo true. Nebraska is nobly doing her share. FACULTY CO-OPERATION. Wo aro Indebted to tho faculty for their assistance. BoBldes contributing unselfishly and willingly, they have offered their services. Mr. Barker has been of Invaluable service as chair man of the board of directors. Through tho aggressiveness of Messrs. Reed, Poynter, Blaymaker and BengUon tho board has been of great help." Mr. Heck has performed a wonderful ser vice in tho mission study. Some of tho other members of tho faculty have led Bible study classes among the fra ternities and have assisted In mi morous ways. Wo were gratified last fall at tho liberal response of tho Btudontp In, our flnanco campaign. A largo amount of money was pledged to carry on our Association work. We will ho glad a second time if all those who have not paid their pledges will do so in the near future. ThlB also applies to all who have not yet paid their member ship dUOB.
