economy department has an article in
the February Journal of Economics en
titled "Farmers Mutual Fire Insurance

J. A. Bumstead, a former studont In

dered a position In the engineering
department of the state railway com

Bumstead Has been In the employ of

public last evening from 7 till 10 to
allow tho uso of the telescope In see
ing tho Orion nebula. This is very
beautiful and one of the largest of
nebulae. Many people called and aHked
Professor Swezey to let them gaze at
the famous star.
Prof. R. J. Pool of the botany de
partment has completed a valuable

This compilation is probably the first
that has been made upon this subject,
and is considered very valuable. It
lists some 231 different kinds of
fungi.

each other, and tho cost of travel on
the continent first, second and third
classes. This Is a great help and con
venience to thoso who arc going
abroad. Manyi students who purposo
spending the summer in Europe have
been consulting the map and havo de
rived many helpful hints therefrom.
The map will be on exhibition in tho
ofllco of the department.

Government Asks for Designs of New
Draughting .Apparatus.
Some time ago ProfeBBor Chase of
the department of agricultural en
gineering designed a draughting ap
paratus for determining tho draught
of high and low-wheeled wagons, wide
and narrow tires, difference of posi
tion of load on the wagon, difference
in grades, etc. Recently C. K. Shedd,
a graduate of the college of agricul
ture, wrote an artlclo describing this
apparatus, which was ipublished in
tho Journal of tho American Society of
Agricultural Engineers. This article
attracted tho attention of tho Russian
govomment, and Mr. Shpdd has been
requested by them to send a duplicate
copy of tho article, together with a
design of the apparatus.
The short course In agriculture at
Wisconsin has a larcer enrollment
this year than, ever before.
