Some little excitement was caused In the buildings on the south part of the campus yesterday when the ex plosion occurred at Marrlner's clean- lngstuullBhnienL The shock was distinctly felt In University hall and the library building .and several classes adjourned for a few minutes while the students looked at the fire wjilch waB shooting up from the building. Y. W. C. A. ELECT OFFICERS. Esther Warner to Head Organization During 1912. At the noon meeting of the univer sity Y. W. C. A. held yesterday the ofllcers for the year 15)11 were elect ed. Those chosen were: President Esther Warner, 1!)12; vice-president, Marjory Kunkel, 1!12; secretary, Mary Holcombe. IM.'l; and treasurer, Merle Thoinns. 1912. Nebraska Professor Takes Work In Two of Europe's Leading Law bcnools. Professor .1. Langworthy Taylor, head of the political economy depart ment, who Is Blending the winter in Paris, has been attending a course of lecture in both L'Ecole de Droit and the Sorbonne, which seems to show that he is regaining his former vigor. He will probably return to the United States by midsummer to resume his work, which has been under the di rection of Professor Virtue during his absence. SECRETARY SWARTZ HERE. Will Address Y. W. C. A. Noon Meet- Ing Friday Speaks to Men Sunday. International secretary for the stu dent volunteer movement. Phillip A. Swartz, will be In Lincoln the last of this week In the Interest of his or ganization. He has. had charge of the territory In which Nebraska Is located for several years and has become well known to tho students of the univer sity. While In Lincoln Mr. Swartz will have several engagements of inipor tance to the students. At 10:50 a. in. Friday he will address the noon Y. W. C. A.vmeetlng.
