WHAT WE MEAN.
In regard to tho policy which the
Nchrnskun will follow during this sem
ester, a' few words are necessnry. The
Interests or the university Hhall de
termine our course on every occasion.
We shall always be optimistic and
willing to boost our Institution or any
of its worthy organizations as often
and as far as we can.
As for moving the. university, we
shall le willing, to abide the decision
of the legislature. In rogurato" eiilJBy
we shall take one If we please, guided
only by tho dictates of our pocket
book. Tho adoption of the honor sys
tem wo shall leave to you. Toward
our subscribers we sha.ll always onter
taln a kindly regard. To thoso who do
not. subscribe wo shall he less kind.
And to thoso who road tho college
nows over the shoulder of some other
should continue under tho same In
structors where It Is at all convenient.
There Ib n decided advantago In this.
The profcBBor who knowB the wenk
points In his scholars can be a great
aid to thorn. Taking the work under
another with the Idea that he will be
"oasy" does not always come out so
nicely as planned.
What's tho matter with the Black
.Mask and the Silver Serpent? Who
can say now that tho women of the
University of Nebraska have no col
lege spirit. Of course, they do not
got out and contest on the athletic
Held. But they have Bhown them
selves willing to do things for their
institution which tho moa have avoid
ed. The way tlieso tvo organizations
have worked for the Nebraskaiv dur
ing the past week is something of
which the wholo Bchool should be
proud. Their efforts, have not been
weak, and they have met with suc
cess. All other societies of the uni
versity have to take their hats off to
the Black Mask and Silver Serpent
this time.
Why do you literary societies, de
bating clubs, etc., not follow their ex
nmple? We do not ask you to do as
much as thoy did. But why can you
not Bee If all your members are live
Btnudents? See If they subscribe for
the paper.
