bateo in the Third 8erles of
Nebraska Inter-class De-
bating Contests.
The University of NobraHka lntor
class debaters nro preparing for
work. Although a definite question
has not been selected by the inter
class debating board, rumors are cur
rent regarding tho probable par
ticipants In tho class tryouts. Tho
IsBuanco of the 1911 constitution, as
adopted by tho board, and the ap
pointment of the faculty members of
the b.ard nro further actions recently
taken that havo.cnused tho Immediate
Increase of student interest.
Board Membership.
The now faculty members of -the
delating board aro Prof. M. M. Fog,;,
of tho Rhetoric department; Prof.
G. Aw Virtue, of the- Economics de
partment, and Prof. E. B. Connnt, of
tho College of Law. According to tho
constitution of the board, there shall
be eight actlvo Btudent representa
tives, two from each academic class.
Tho student members at present are:
Senior, E. H. Hahne and J. T. Votava;
Junior, R. Garrot and W. R. Powera;
sophomore, H. B. English and C. L.

This Is tho third year sfneo The In-
troduction of lnter-class " debating at
Nebraska. Tho first year the fresh
men were victorious, winning from
the seniors In tho final round. The
members of tho winning team of 1909
wero C. L. Clark, D. W. Rodgers, and
W. L. Bates. Last year tho junlros
won tno nrBt naif by doreating tho
seniors, and the final against tho first-
year mon. Tho mombors of tho junior
team wore W. T. Wolvlngton, A. R.
Raymond, and A. M. Oberfelder.
Good Prospects.
The prospects of a good forensic
fight this year between the academic
classes Is good. All of tho Univer
sity squad niomhers, with tho oxcop-'
tlon of the team members, will prob
ably be present In the initial tryouts.
Several have already committed
themselves to this effect, nnd stand
ready to imt on the oratorical gloves.
According to the by-laws of tho de
bating board constitution, the Junior
senior nnd freshman-sophomore do
bates shall be held, if possible, on
consecutive days, and not later than
March 8th. This is done with a view
of having tho chumploiibhlp debate on
Phi Bota Kappa day, some tlmo In the
latter part of' March.
