We first wish to-sct-nt-rcst any. fears on the part of the freshman class that the meet is to bo In any way connected with tho question of clnBS supremacy. The question of class supremacy was decided byi the Olympics, and the sophomore class Is willing to nhldo by the decision of that day. There are, however, we believe, a number of valid reasons for holding the proposed meet. The Olympics decided tho question of class supremacy, but they should not destroy the spirit of friendly class rivalry which tradition gives to the lower classes. An indoor meet would in our opinion promote n commend able spirit of rivalry between tho classes. Tho Idea has been taken up In the universities of Iowa and Wis consin and has met with great suc cess. ' There seems, then, no reason why Nebraska university could not make an 'equal success of the plan -proposed. -!v While the two lower cIiisbcb ns the participants in the meet should by right receive the lnrger beneilts of the movement, we believe thnt not only the participating classes but the uni- HIGH CUTS $4.79 These are exceptionally good in regard to quality $7.50 $8.00 $8.50 Grades BUDD 1415 O ST. university. Besides this, articles In different, magazines of importance by three professors is proof of the state ment that Nehraskans and their work has been recognized. Bill Nye told of the champion mean mun. Many men will be given an oppor tunity to exhibit their strength and skill, who might otherwise remain un known. The "uncovering" of this new material will be a positive hene Ht to tho university as a whole, for the raising of the athletic stnnding of the Bchool means the raising of school standard. This, In part, Is the reason the soph omores offer for the introduction of the lower classes of Nebraska university. In consideration of. tho fact that a commendable spirit of class rivalry would ho fOBteredi by the move 'ment and the general athletic stand ard of the university, would be raised, wo believe .that the freshman class will give the "Indoor meet" tholp hearty support.
