Though I do not know what will bo tho atti tude of tho freshmen, as a clasri, to ward tho sophomoro challengo when It comes, I would Hko to say, as an Individual, that I am heartily in favor of the plan. Class spirit and class rivalry aro all right, If not carried to extremes. Univorsity spirit Bhould come before anything else, and I think this meoi would encourage that spirit, for tho plan seems partly lntondedi to glvo tho captains of the trnck team a line on material In tho sophomore and freshman classes. As I understand tho-01.vmplc8r we simply won tho right to wear caps, and I much regret that a few fresh men have assumed that wo won more than that. Somo of the sophomores havo used tho actions of these few freshmen as an argument ngainBt tho whole class. So a meet in which the question of class supromacy was eliminated would be beneficial to tho spirit of both classes. Besides this, it would, as I havo said before, pro mote univorsity spirit, In that tho sophomoro and frcBhman classes would work together, In harmony, for tho betterment of tho trnck team, which represents not n class, but the university.
