Freshmen to Be Organized.
Tho freshmen and sophomores ol
tho university aro to be gifted with a
stimulator, an organizer, or whatevoi
you may prefer to call It, in the fora
of Indoor athletic events. Tho object
of such a stimulus Is to create Interest
and organization between thq two
classes preliminary to tho b!g "Olym
pics," which will be pulled off a week
from Saturday, October 29.
Ever since Dr. Condra first con
ceived the Idea of having an official
"scrap" between the freshmen and
Bophomores, and especially since the
first' contest of this nature occurred
two years ago, there has been an evl
dent necessity for finding some, metb
od to get the frcBhmen better organ
ized and put a llttlo genuine clusi
spirit into both the opposing classes.
Olympic Rally
' Prompted by such, a need, tho Y. M
0. A. and tho. Olympic committees ol
both classes this year havo planned t
big ralty and contest' In which the
''belligerent" parties will participate.
This rally will take place Friday ev
enlngvat"S o'clock In tho armory.
This is the first meeting of Its kind
In tho history of tho university, and
it Is hoped that every member of
either the freshman or Bophomore
class will bo present and fight for the
glory of 'his class. Tho girls will not
bo oxcluded, but relegated to tho'bal
.conies, where they may cheer the
"gladiators" and decree fates by thc
more twist ef a thumb, as did tho prln
cesses of a more chivalrous age.
Tho events, however, will not ho a
reduplication of tho big "Olympic"
contests, but will be of an entirely dif
ferent nature. There will be a series
of athletic struggles between tho
classes, but thoy will be of a peculiar
type, designed rather tq form strong
rivalry between the contestants than
to'deflnltely decide tho outcome of tho
athletic field contests,
' ''Hoa-TylntT Contest.
