tho fault of this ycar'B staff that the
book will bo out two or three wcoki
later than was announced. Tho Blue
Print will also bo out much later thai,

been laboring under great difficulty tc

havo, however, been Importing press
men and with tho aid of tho local
men who havo returnod to work, they
aro gradually returning to their nor
mal output.
Tho Bluo Print should havo been
out early In tho month of April. Tlr I

"Tho 191? Cornhuskor will bo out
May first." has boen tho cry of the
staff of this year's annual since last
fall. They havo worked hard to carry
out this purposo. Hdro tho pressmen's
strlko Interfered again. The publisher
has not boen ab!o to send out the
proof as fast as ho has recolved the
copy from tho staff and consequently
tho" work haB been delayed.
Tho editor has, however, rocelvotl
tho procf of tho first part of tho book
and expectB to rccelvo tho rest In the
near future This proof Is being react
aB It Is received and then sent back to
tho printer as sdVn as ro&Blble. At
tho present rate the book should bo
out by tho third week In May and It
la posslblo that It will bo out sooner'
than this.

mako Its appearance until a few days
before tho close of tho school year,
and this has been tho case every year

on a certain day, and year after year
tho book has failed to mako Its appear
anco until two or threo weeks later.
This year tho staff mado'a solemn re
solve that such would not be the case,
and they believe that had It not been
for tho strike they would havo been
enabled to live up to their resolve.
Men Wanted for 8ervlce.
Dean Bessey has received a request
fcr men to enter tho grazing branch
of the United States forest service.
He expects to bo ablo to find men for
at least a part of tho positions.

T'he botany department is in receipt
of several recent publications. One
entitled "Native Trees cf Kentucky,"
by MJes Sarah Mawry of the Kansas
Federation of Woman's Clubs, and an
other on ancient plants by Miss Marie
C. Stopes of tho University of Lon
don. Nlkaldo Writes on Sugar.
Y. Nlkaldo, n former Japanese stu
dent at Nebraska, has written a bock
entitled "Beet Sugar Making and Its
Chemical Control." Mr. Nlkaldo la
now employed as a chemist In Michi
gan. His career at Nebraska was re
markablo In that he lived on $75 a
year while attending tho university.

department addressed the audience,

high school, there being . about five
hundred present. Music waB fur
nlthed by the high schcol orchestra
and by songs from tho different
grades.

Principal G. N." Williams has asked
for a release from his eontract Jto

of $1,200. Ho Is a graduate of Peru
Normal and desires to completo his

been chosen president cf the State
Normal at Peru at a salary of $3,000

western Nebraska in debating by their
victory over Chadron April 16. The
