GOLLEGE MEN IN DEMAND.

President Junius of the University of
Illinois stales that the demand made
upon his Institution for college-trained
men has been far In excess of the sup

ago. These courses aim to provide a
liberal education, with training, in
some special business field. Those

The piny recently produced by the
(ierinnn department or the univerlHl
at the Temple theater was given at
the Lyric theater In Omaha Friday
night. The cast played to a well

the same evening. The play received
the heartiest commendation from all
presont. The hltB of the piece were
much better received than when the
piece was staged at the Temple. This
was lira large measure due to the pre
ponderance of those who understood
German In the audience. At the close
of the performance many enthusiastic
members of the audience went to the
stago to congratulate the players.
The members of the cats did t all
return from Omaha at the same time.
A few of them are still In the metrop
olis. Ex-Regent C. .1. Ernst took a
groat donl of interest In bringing the
production to Omaha and helped
greatly in making it a success. .Mr.
Streotor, one of the cast, came from
Davenport to take part in the piny.
On Its return to the university the
cast brought a life-size copy of tho
portrait of Bismarck, painted by Leu
bach, one of the best portrait paint
ers in Germnny. It represents tho
great statesman in the uniform' of a
curralasler. The picture was pur
chased from tho proceeds of the play
and will bo the property of the depart
ment. It will be on exhibition In the
library for a weok or so. While in
Omaha tho memburs of the club v!p
ited Riverside' park to see Schiller's
monument which has been erected
there.
Divinity Club Tonight.
Rev. T. ,M. Shlpherd will give an
address boforo tho Divinity Club In
science hall of tho Temple. Visitors
welcome.

gram' at tho Southwestern Nebraska
Teachers' Association at Alma, Neb.,

cadet band will play before the speak
ing begins. The Wesleynn glee club
and quartet have been invited to Blng.
Collego yells and colora will make tho
meeting a live one. There will not bo
a single Idle moment during the even
ing. Fraternity men are arranging to

on the main Moor or the auditorium.

Each college of Lincoln will be rep
resented on the program by one fac
ulty member. Dean Bessey will speak
