placid unconsciousness which brings
Joy to the heart of tho practical Jokor.
All men'' aro fools, according to tho
dictum of Epmo one or other who died
somo centuries ago and doesn't count
anyhow "but wo would liko to re
m'nrly'fhat there are fools and fools.
' Yes. wo k'eked hats with bricks un

ft, w) opened blank letters, wo ans
wered bogus telephone calls, we ran
out to see the flro, and in fact wo
made the usual April fool out of our
selves. But there aro somo Joke
which aro tco old even for our un
cultivated tnste.1 When a prank has
been practiced on tho same kind of
neophytes nt tho same time in the
same place In tho same wuy sinco the
foundation cf the pyramids It may
seem a triflo frayed and not at all In
-keeping with tho spirit of April 1st.
At least so it seemed to the lively
Junior Dlack Masques who did not
wait at H.arley'8. Another tlmo hon
