KANSAS CHAMPIONS
OF MISSOURI VALLEY
TWO GAMES WON FROM NEBRAS
KA DECIDED THE TITLE.
GAME WITH AMES IS CANCELLED
Wood Played Stellar Ball on Nebraska
Five Johnson Removed from
Game Because of
Rive Fowls.
Tho Kansas University baskotball
live became undisputed champions of
tho Missouri Valley conference league
by defeating tho Cornhuskor team Sat
urday night by tho score of 40 to 13.
This game completed the schedule of
tho Jnyhawkers for this year and
makes . their 'record stand sovontoen
games. won nud ono lost.
The game was fast, but the visitors
outclassed the home team in goal
throwing, and completely ran away
from them In the second hnlf by their
speedy team Worn, " During tho first
hnlf the Nebraska qulntot played as
well in passing the ball as Kansas, but
were sp weak In goal throwing that
their opponents succeeded In making
19 poinds to their 10.
In the second half tho Cornhuskers
did not tako a spurt hut weakened In
todm work. The Kansas team, how-.
ever," took ndvnntago of this weakness
and with their sure goal throwing sue-
ceedeU In piling up a score which eaa
lly made them the champions of tho
valley.
Wood Sfcr.
All through the game Wood was
the star of the game. He was pitted
against the Kansas captain .and his
defensive playing was so excellent
that ho succeded In keeping his op
ponent down to throwing only two
goals, the smallest number 'made by
him this winter. Cnptain Johnson was
removed from the game in tho Inst
few minutes of play for having fouled
five times during the game. Those
fouls were made while ho was trying
to stop the classy work of Wood.
Vandervles wns easily the star for
the Jayhuwkers. Heiser and Wood
nrd also featured In stellar plays and
made most of tho points for their
team.

No Game.
Nebraska and Ames, the two schools
tied for basketball championship of
tho northern section of tho Missouri
Valley conference league, have agreed
nol to play a post season game to de-.
termlne tho championship.
The Aggros felt that they could not
go away from homo for this game and
requosted fho Cornhuskor manage
ment not to require a final game. Al
though Nebraska's chances for win
ning were excellont, the management
was not any too anxloUs to schedule
the game. It Nebraska should havo
won this game she would havo played
Kansas again for the championship of
the whole valley, but this champion
ship so evidently belongs to Kansas
that it was thought best' not to play
more games.
