Tho contract for the erection of tho great library building at the Univer sity of Chicago to servo as a memorial to tho late President William RnlrieY Harper, was finally let on January 4, tho contract price, In round flguroB, being $600,000. The building is to be completed In Blxteeh months, with tho result that It will be ready for occu pancy during tho summer of next year. Ground was broken on January 10, the fourth anniversary of Dr. Harper's death, and the .ceremonies incident to the laying of the corner etone. will bo hold at the Juno convocation, at the termination of the spring qudrler. Tne structure will bo 276 by 80 feet, -fronting on tho Midway Plalsauce. Tho main building will be bIx stories, li3 feet In height; wlth. two towers 138 feet high containing eight stories.
