Two From Each Class.
Last year tho presidents of tho var
ious clasBCB appointed members to a
board, which conducted tho first Inter
class debutes held In tho university.
This board, under tho chairmanship
of Poss Dates, drew up a constitu
tion which was to permanently govorn
tho dobates. Tho constitution was re
ferred to tho sonnto for approval and
was paBSod In a Bllghtly amended form
on Juno 4. In making his copy from
tho original commlttoo report, Secro
tarys Dales omitted tho sections which
llxed tho membership of tho board.
Tuesday President Oborfoldor ap
pointed three Juniors to the board.
Tho constitutionality of this wns ques
tioned. Inquiry at tho secretary's of
fice brought out tho fact or tho appar
ent defect of tho constitution and loft
tho whole membership or tho board In
tho air. Further Inquiries of Profes
sor Fork, chulrman of tho faculty
commlttoo-In charge of tho mattor,
were responsible for. settling tho ques
tion. It will now bo nocoBBary for tho four
classes to hold elections during tho
next ton dayB to pick their memborB
on tho board.
Features of the Constitution.
Tho leading features of the consti
tution which governs tho debates aro
us follows.
I. The board shall bo named tho
Intor-qlass Debating Board of tho Uni
versity of Nebraska; It shall bo com
posed of eight undergraduate students,
consisting of two mombora from oach
class, elected by the class in tho first
8omoater, and throe faculty members
appointed by tho chancellor.
II. There shall bo an official ndvl
or to tho board, who shall sorvo In
an advisory capacity. Tho head of
University debating Bhall hold this of
fice. .
V. Five mombora shall constitute
a. quorum, provided that oach clasB
and tho faculty shall have preaont at
least one representative.

George N. Lamb, curator of tho uni
versity horbarlum, has received a spe
cial appointment to tho United States
forestry service. Tho appointment Is
for expert work In the growing and
brooding of basket willows for com
mercial purposes. Tho government
Is greatly Interested In this work and
is co-operating with Btate experiment
stations which are working along this
line.
Mr. Lamb 1b still considering tho
offor, but will probably accept It. Ho
Is now a senior In tho agricultural
collogo and will bo In shapo to gradu
ate this winter. If Mr. Lamb accepts
ho will remove to Washington tho lat

the coming semester, tho course In M.

abandoned. Next year course 16 will
be given the first semester, and It,

during the second semester.
