Dr. Williams, ond his assistants at the University of Mlnnosota are taking no chances on tho Amos game next Saturday prov ing an oasy contost. On the contrary tho membors of tho gopher football squad aro Doing sent through tho usu al stiff practice each night. It Is felt that while Amos will bo conquered next Saturday, tho farmors from Iowa will put up a much bottor defense thnn did Iowa last Saturday. If this proves true tho gophers will wolcomo It, for they want to test their offonso on a strong team before going into tho big games later In tho sea son. Thoro Is considerable work to bo dono before tho big games ,and Wil liams and tho other coaches were kept busy today endeavoring to overcome tho faults discovered Saturday. Both Borndt and Gill were out of the game today, Brondt with a broken rib and Gill with a' bad "charloy horse," But both will bo started in tho Chicago game. Indiana's buccosb will dopend greatly on how long they can laft. Other mon on tho hospital list aro Ulon, Howard. Paddock, and Hatfield, but all will be in ahapo by Saturday. Today the hardest kind of a scrub gamo was played for an hour. Against tho varsity llnod up about twenty freahmon and they kept the play go ing until tho mon wore entirely ex hausted. Eliminat ing much of tho fumbling that kept tho scoro down In tho first scrlm-.nage tho varsity today ran through the crubs for three touchdowns In about fifteen minutes' play. Borlosk, at Ond, and G. Lawton, at full-back were the stars of tho crippled varsity, UiIb pair making nearly all of tho gains for the first team. Except for tho changes made neces sary by tho Blight Injuries to tho regu lar's yesterday's workout showed no shifts In tho Michigan line-up. More team work and fewer tricks Is his slogan for tho hooBiors. Of tho thlrty-flvo plays, fifteen are brand now, so that thoro will bo no lack of reserve ammunition if Indiana springs anything unexpected. Yesterday Coach Griffith, realizing that tho Cornell gamo next Saturday will bo a sovoro toBt of his green team in the state championship race, set to work in tho difficult task of drillng into his mon an offonso which thoy will not forget in a contest. In Saturday's gamo Iowa was weak In that the team showed its greenness moro than anticipated. Many of tho students will not bo surprised to seo Alexander at left tackle permanently. Dyer's great showing in tho time ho was In tho game at half and quarter will undoubtedly result in his being given moro practice In tliese positions. At times tho Iowa lino was a stono wall and tho mon played low, but the left sldo was a bIovo moBt of tho con test.
