Expected to Move.
Tho society expected to bo able to

two years, and tho rooms thoy now
occupy wore to be turnod Into much
needed olass rooms, but with tho sud
den turn of affairs, all these plans
will have to be dropped for the time

charge that tlio state must be edu
cated to the need of such a building.
Tlio work Is hampered and cramped
at tho present time for lack of room
as well as tho imperative demand for
class room to fascllitato the work of
tho Bchool.

Other Btates, of less linanclal pros
perity, have provided far better for
their historical societies than has X
braska. Tho Kansas society applied
this year for the first time to Its
loglslaturo and received an appropri
ation of $200,000 together with $15,000
for a site and provision for tho furn
ishing of tho building from another
fund, and this from a legislature fac
ing a doflcit of half a million. This
gives Kansas a building costing $250,
000. Iowa has ono costing $450,000;
Wisconsin ono costing $020,000 and
Minnesota plans to have ono costing
a million and a quartor.
