JUNIOR8CH008E LINCOLN MAN TKOtliBAD CLASS. FINAL VOTE STANDS 50 TO 49 Registration of Several Proxies Turns the Election to Yates Marks the Close of Unusual Con test With the cIoBcet election that baa ov6r been Kn6wri m th6 Junior cIclbb, and at the close ,of a campaign that has been characterized by much bard work but absolutory devoid of air apec tncular featnreB, Ho Jrmfdr class y6s- torday mornfhg eldcWd Paijfr Vat6 oi Lincoln aa president for the second aomeater. The final count gavo Mr. Yates a total of 50 votes while hla opponent, Miss Hubo, received 49. As announced to tho class meeting the vote was 50 to 48 but it was lator found that one ballot had been omitted from the count. As this ballot was cast for Miss Huso it left the election ao close that a chango of ono voto would have swung tho election to tho other candidate. Indulge In Mud-Throwing. Mlsa Hubo was placed In nomina tion by Mr. R. B. Carapbolfc .who spoke briefly, telling of tho qualifica tions which bis1 candidate possessed for the office. Mr. YateB namo was placed in nomination by Mr. Fred Hofman, who apoKo at aomo length,, criticising tho administration which former presidents had givon tho class and promiaing that his candidate would remedy these conditions. Mr. Hofman especially apoko of the fact that a few men had been constantly appointed on more than their ahnro of committees and declared that Mr. Yates would know how to remedy thin condition of affairs. The campaign which haa been eon ducted by Mr. Yntes and MIbb Hubo hna been one of unusual interest be cause tho entrance of a girl into the race made it Impossible to forecaat the result with any degreo of cer tainty. Miss Huso haa been under tho disadvantage of being unable to con duct such an uctlvo personal cam paign as her opponont, but her popu larity almost made up for this handi cap. HALLETT, Registered Optometrist, 1143 O was largely conceded to Miss Huso, from the start, but it waB contended that htfving work as both a law stu dent arid ar engineer, Mr. Yntea should get a strong support among tho pi en of the. class. Proxies Are Rejected. An Interesting feafurd of tho elec tion was the' fact that if (hr6e proxies which were presented had been ac cepted the" election : would have gone f6r Miss HhYse. Without the nnnfes of the persons wh'd wianed' to vote by1 proxy being Known it waB decided by the class ttia n6 proxies should bo permitted.
