Conservation of Natural Resourc

Much has been said in rccont maga
zines and publications about tho now
movement which Is bolng taken up
by various . colleges and universities
along tho lino of university extension
work. Chlcngo university has been us
ing this method of reaching tho men
who cannot go to school for years. In
Wisconsin the movement started with
extension work along agricultural
lines. Then it waB oxtonded bo as to
include the various departments until
npw there 1b hardly any courso which
is not carried in a modified form to tho
people of tho state. The call for thlB
extension work Is made for those who
cannot even hope to go to college,
yet to whom the state fools that the
benefits of its large educational insti
tutions ought to go.
Work at Nebraska.
At Nebraska the work is fast round-
,nE lnt0 practical shape and, it is b
lleved, will bo divided into four depart
ments; namely, correspondence, study,
instruction by lectures debnting and
public discussion, and genernl informa
tion and welfare The fees will be
mado as low ns possible, probably
$7.50 per subject per semester, and for
the teachers' college $5.00 per half bo
mestor or $8 for a double subject. Uni
versity credit is given for the works
subject to the regulations governing
advance credit in the univcruty itself,
but one-half of tho unit bonis require 'I
for graduation may lie taken in corre

and speaking to gatherings of various
kinds.

unlvorslty gave an address on "The
Conservation or our Natural Re
sources.'' While tho program for the
coming weeks has not been fully ar
ranged, it is intended to continue this
program with few exceptions through
out the year.
