ball coaching yesterday at Bartlott
gymnasium. Despite tho fact that his
baBeball squad now numbers only thir
ty men, tho director began a series of
"weeding out" processes, aimed to cut
tho bunch to a state of efficiency even
though It should diminish it to a still
more attenuated state.
Coach Stagg devoted most of tho
afternoon to the diamond nBpirants.
He announced that he would accept
only such candidates as could qualitfy
under three testB.
Among tho candidates who succeed

held a very pleasant meeting Tuesday

based primarily. on the study of Eng
lish words derived from the Greek,
with special reference to modern liter
ary and scientific terms. It Is Intend
ed primarily for those students who
desire to obtain, in one semester, a
fnir knowledge of tho Greek elements

also serve as a preparation for course

ond semester Professor Lees will

to Greece." The Itinerary will follow
the routes pursued by him during two

ance of Greece .as It Is today; Its
topography, architecture, theaters,
temples, etc., explained by lectures
and Illustrated by lantern views. One
