New students In political economy
are received. In tho second semester
the same aB in the first. Tho Innova
tion Is being tried of repeating Courso
I the second semester. Tho reason
for this repetition Is that In past years
many complaints havo been recolved
that now students could not enter tho
department the second seiheBter. This
has been partially romedied In the
past few years .by, admitting thorn to
cortain courses in commerce; but now
a course in general elementary polit

DEPLORE ANTI-WOLVERINE MOVE
Coaches 8tagg, Williams and Hutch-
Ins, Forming "Big Three," Unite
to' Keop Ann Arbor School
From Schedules.
CHICAGO. Jan. 18 University of
Michigan alumni Joined with the
"grads" and student rooters of tho
University of Chicago yesterday In de
ploring the latest anti-Michigan move
of the Chicago, Wisconsin nnd Minne
sota athletic authorities. Following
the announcement of Coach Stagg that
the "big three" leadors had finally de
cided not. to consider the maize and
blue as gridiron opponents for the
coming football season, the enthus
iasts of the old-time rival schools
were forced to admit tho failure of
their hopes for another championship
struggle between Chicago and Michi
gan. In addition to the adtnlsBfbn inndo
by Coaches Stagg, Williams and
Hutehlns after their powwow of Sat
urday that they had not considered
Michigan as a possible opponent for
190!, Coach Stagg said yesterday that
a definite decision had been reached
not to schedule games with the wolver
ines. The move of the conches means
that Michigan Is dropped for good as
a figure In western football until it
applies for membership In the confer
ence nnd Is nccopted. according to tho
maroon authorities.
To 8ettle Minor Points.
In nddltlcn to their powwows, of Sat
urday the "Ulg three" lehdors have
agreed to settle a number of minor
points concerning their rulcrshlp by
correspondence this week. Tho com
ing six days will, in nil probability,
be of great importance from the foot
ball viewpoint, as Coach Stagg hopes
to Hx upon the dates Tor his games
and determine which schools shall
have places on his schedule.
Keep All Skirts Clean.
Coach Stagg informed Ue maroons
that tho "big three" oniclais hnd kept
olenr oT tho Michigan B.tibject, except
ing Ho repeat thcln opinlbnB that a
game with the wolverines would be
contrary to tho conforence nilos unless
Michigan should sue for ridmlssion to
tho "big eight" and bo taken back into

the fold. 'This, according to Stagg,
Is extremely unlikely.
"One tiling can be said, and that Is
that none of the conference collogeB
will play Michigan this year," said
Coach Stagg. "Despite the constant
rumors thnt one. or the other of us
1b going to take on Mlchlgjtnf there Is
nothing to support Bitch an nrgumont
now. On tho contrary, UiIb bcouib to

that could happen.
