Although It Is early In the BcuHon
and the teams havo not yet perfected
their team work, yet a faBt game 1h
expected and the athletes from Beth
any Heights are hopeful of holding
the varsity to a low score, If not de
featlng them.
Mr. Stevens, the Cotner Coach, says
that his team has been working liurd
for several woe.ts and that they are
in remarkably good form for so early
in the season and under the circum
stances he thinks that they ought to
show up wel lagalnst their Cornhurfker
opponents. In the matter of practice
this fall the Cotner players have a
distinct advantage over the varsity
men they have been working mil
eer since early In the fall under his
direction and In the matter of team
work they are believed to be farther
advanced than the Cornhuskei-B.
Individual Work.
The Nebraslrti players, on the other
hand .will be compelled to. depend
largely upon their individual ability
tonight. The work so far this fall lms
been largely along the lines of de
veloping sliced and calculated to bring
out the individual strength of the men
so that fhe better players might bo
discovered before the weedlng-out pro
cess began and the drill In team work
and signal practice started.
The s(iiad 1b larger than ever be
fore and in the opinion of many con
tains a larger percentage of faster
players than at un time in
recent ears. The guards are ex
pected to do good Individual work In
tonight's contest, and even If the var
sity flvo Is unable to run up a large
score on the Cotner players, they hope
to pr vent them from shooting very
many baskets against the Cornhusk
ers. Fast Team.
When interviewed last evening, Dr.
Clapp, who is coaching the Cornhusk
er live, gave It out aB his opinion that
the material with which he is now
working contains more fast playorB
than he has had together at one tlmo
for several years. He expressed him
self as being very entlffislastlc over
f the proBpectB for the season and hopes
to be able to develop a championship
team.
Ab far as tonight's conteBt goes Dr.
Clapp anticipates that his pupils will

have no dillk-ully in holding their own,
notwithstanding the fact that they are
handicapped In the matter of team
work.
It Is reported that tho Cotner live
went to .Manhattan, Kansas, laBt week,
wnere they met the team from tho
Manhattan agricultural college and
were defeated by a score of 54 to 29.
If this report Is correct, all the boar
stories about tho strong team which
they have at Cotner and their chance
for defeating; tho Cornhuskors tonight
will not be given much credence.
Personnel of Team.
The personnel of the Cornhusker
team Is not yet decided and the pur
pose of tonight's game 1b to aid in
determining this matter. So far tlero
have been all kinds of promising can
didates and the work which they put
up In this contest, for Dr. Clapp ex
pects many of them out tonight, will
be a large stride toward tho dotermin
Inatlon of tho permanent make-up of
the team. It Is not to bo Inferred
from this, however, that tho make-up
of tho team will, after tonight's game
or even at any time during tho season,
bo finally settled upon. Promising
candidates will not be relegated to the
bench until they havo had ample and
thorough opportunity to show what
thoy can do and havo failed.
Tho line-up of the team during a
part of tonight's game, at least, will
bo as follows: Center, Potrashek;
forwards, Wood, Captain Walsh and
Hutchison; guards, Boll and Porry.
The contest takes placo In tho ar
mory at 8: in, and tho admission will
be 25 cents. Holders of students' sea
son tickets will, of course, be admit
ted. Tho seniors at Indiana havo whito
felt hats with Yale blue bands.

Interview with Dr. "Williams which
led to the opening of correspondence
on a game next fall. Howovor, the
Minnesota authorities soon declared
that the game should be played at
Minneapolis and tho Iowa athletic
board Immediately ended negotiations,
as Iowa will havo enough games away
