"non-com hop." Val White, first ser
geant of Co. D, was elected chairman
of tho hop committee, and A. Schmidt,

chosen master of ceremonies. Tho
hop will take place about tho fifteenth
of January.
A new v.cuum system Is being in
stalled In the physics building. Ow
ing to serious leaks which were dis
covered In the -former plant, It Is be
ing replaced by a new system of lead
piping which will cover the lower
doors and the lecture room. The
vacuum pump which will be used Is
Intended to pump 1-5000 of a milli
meter pressure. The .system is to be
employed in the research, lecture and
experimental work of the department.
The mid-week meeting of tho Y. M.
C. A. took place at the association
rooms in. the Temple last night. The
meeting was in the form of a Cas
cade rally and wan led by H. C.
Hough. Different topics of interest
were taken and talked on, by men
who were there as follows; "Thp
Morning Watch," E. H. Jorgensen;
"Fellowship," E. P. Guldlnger;- "Per
sonal Work,'' F H. Iteinsch; "Sports,"
h. B. Temple; "Influence of Sur
roundings," if. It4 Ball. In spite of
threatening weather, " the attendahde
was very satisfactory,
