The co-edB of the domestic science department of the University of Ill inois edited the Agriculturist, a stu dent publication at Illinois this month. A bill to prevent hazing Is before the Virginia legislature. Fines amounting to $100 together with Im prisonment are the penalties pro vided. Michigan freshmen 'expect to com pete with the 'varsity men againat Uie First Regiment (Chicago) tack team as the contest Is not an inter-collegiate one. Six hundred freshmen attended tho recent class banquet and stunt party at Cornell, and enjoyed a program of stunts, and speeches until after mid night. Alumnae and women students at the University of Wisconsin are pc'tatlng tho subject of women suffrage and have heard addresses by well-known leaders in the movement recently. The eastern colleges will probably follow the lead of the West In foot ball reform next year, and educe tho number of games. It is said that Har-1 vard will reduce her schedule to two games. The University of Chicago may- establish a course.. In preparation for the United States consular service.. Yale and Columbia are the only American universities which now have such courses. - Indiana University Is taking steps to form an oratorical and debating lea gue among the larger schdolsDf the West. This organization would bear the same relation to this work that the conference school do to athletics. President Hadley of Yale University j recently returned after a three months sojourn at the University of Berlin where he delivered a series of lee- t,ures. He was welcomed back by. the, student body by a large mass meeting on the campus. The baseball squad of Iowa uni versity is rapidly being thinned down and the cream of the bunch picked out.
