Northwestern has established a fra
ternity conference board, of which the
president of the university will be the
head. The board will bo 'composed of
two alumni from each chapter, one of
whom will be appointed by the faculty
and one by the chaptor. The board
will bo merely advisory, and will not
attempt any radical changes.
Princeton Debaters Defeat Harvard.
The thirteenth annual debate be
tween Harvard and Princeton Friday
evening resulted In a victory for the
Princeton debaters. Princeton uphold
the affirmative of the question: "Re
solved. That further material in
creases In the United States navy are
undesirable."

Minnesota girls are raising a fund
for the erection of a dormitory. They
have. .been given-five thousand dollars
by a local business manwho also fur
nishes them with a list of fifty other
prominent citizens from whom they
pould probably get donations. They
will make a canvass of those.
In order to raise funds to maintain a
union at Boston Tech, a special "Tech"
day Is to bo held at the Boston Hippo
drome. All of the profits go toward
the support of tho union. In order to
add "local color" some amateur stunts
will bo given by tho studonts.
International Race.
Tho University of Washington Is to
have a rdgatta with the Imperial Unl
vorslty of Japan. A Japanese student
at Washington says that the only
practical difference between their
methods of rowing and ours Is that
th.ey do not use sliding seats.
A club at California recently gave
an exhibition of scientific boxing at
one of its meetings, three professional
boxers taking part. The organization
was severely criticized by tho local
people for the affair.
Sheffield Scientific School has de
cided to spend $700,000 for new build
ings so located that they will form a
now quadrangle to be known as Sheff
Square, extending from Grove Btreet
to tho Northampton railroad and from
Hlllhouse avenue to Prospect street,
Boston. The buildings will Include an
auditorium, a biological laboratory,
and a structure to take the place of
Sheffield Hall.
The freshmen women at Chicago
have voted down the proposition to
wear green caps, and will have green
sleeve bands with the class numerals
attached.
