Ah a result or tho nrt exhibition liiHt wlntor nnd of tho recent series of lec tures by Dr. Powers, the Nebraska Art Association has been enabled to purchase ahother picture for the Uni versity gallery and to still have $700 left for furthor Investment. The so ciety gained $1,400 from the exhibition and $300 additional from the lectures. With $1,000 of this fund tho associa tion bought the "Canal of Bruges," a painting by Charles Warren Eaton. This Is regarded as one of tho best works of Mr. Eaton, who is at present not represented in the Nebraska gal lery. It was hung In tho gallery dur ing the exhibition and attracted much attention. Within a short time It will bo returned to Lincoln and will be given a permanent place. The ofllcors of the association have not yet determined what to do with the remainder of their fund. Profes sor F. M. FMng said yesterday morning that the money might be held until next year, when additional receipts from the 1009 exhibition would enable the purchase of an unusually high grade picture. It is possible, how ever, that the amount may be put tol some other use. Defore one of his classes yesterday morning. He said that it was not unlikely that in the future the state legislature would be asked to aid the association.
