There are various kinds of dreamB.

able wide-awake action. The people
who have done the world the most
good haven't dreamed things Into ex
istence without getting busr between
dreams.
It Is a safe guess that out of the six
hundred Hunks and conditions of last
semester there were not a half dozen
by students who are earning their way
through schools. Young people who
earn their own money appreciate the
This hour Is to be given to the dis
cussion of the problems of the peace of
the world. An association for interna
tional conciliation has boon formed
composed of many of the leading men
of America. Many of tho colleges and
universities of tho United States have
auxiliary societies and present pro
grams at least once each year to dis
cuss arbitration and other means that
may advance peace, and lessen or do
away with war. The annual Lake Ma
houk conferences are noted all over
tho world, and bring to their meetings
the greatest orators and statesmen
from all tho nations. Tho Hague Con
ferences are parts of this same great
movement. Among the noted men
forming thd council of direction of tho
American branch of this association
are found Lyman Abbott, Nicholas
Murray Butler, Joseph H. Choatos, Both
Low, David Starr Jordan, James Ford
Rhodes, A. D. White and our own
noted citizen W. J. Bryan.
The program as arranged will occu
py the whole hour from eleven until
twelve, March 10. Short addresses
will be given by Professor Maxoy and
J. S. Swenson, followed by longer
speeches by Prof. O. B. Howard and
W. J. Bryan. The subjects will be
as follows: Prof. Edwin Maxey, "Re
sults of the Second Peace Conference."
J. S. Swenson, "Tho University as an
Exponent of Peace." Prof. Q. E'. How
ard, "America and tho Ideal of Social
Peace." Hon. W. J. Bryan, "Arbitra
tion vs. Force." Chancellor Andrews
will preside, and Mrs. Raymond will
furnish appropriate music. Program
will begin on the minute.
The Students' Debating Club will
have a debate on the following sub
ject: Resolved: "That the present
powers of the house of representatives
are a menace to good government"

This does not include the function of
a stenographic bureau or that of an ad
vertising agency for Individuals and
organizations. The Nebraskan is try
ing to- furnish the news for"the bene
fit of its readers and not of -its would
be contributors.
Tonight occurs the first of a series
of; three 'h'ter-class basket-ball games.
These occasions ought to develop con
siderable class spirit and this one be
tween the seniors and sophomores will
be of unusual interest It is hoped that
there will be enough students from the
classes 'in question to make their pres
ence known. ' ' '
Attention is called to the chapel ex
ercises next Tuesday from eleven to
