Language Requirement for Degree.
Many graduate students have con
siderable difficulty In meeting the
modern language. requirement for the
Ph. D. degree. In order to nsslst such
students the departments of Frenqh
and German have arranged to admit
candidates who have had language
work earlier In their course simulta
neously to a readng course and an
elementary course, In which they may
review those points which arc-essential
In passing a satisfactory exami
nation. Graduate students, will great
ly facilitate their work If they can
satisfy this language requirement
during the summer session, since that
enables them to take up their special
studies In a- more satisfactory way
during the regular session.
Nu' Sigma Nu Initiation.
Last Friday evening, at the Nu
Sigma Nu fraternity houBO, 1509
South Twenty-sixth street,. Omaha,
the following were Initiated Into the
mysteries of that organization: J. C.
Elder, A. A. Bald, J. L. Wilson and
Lorenz Frank.
Nu Sigma Nu Is the oldest and
largest medical fraternity In the
world. There are chapters at all the
leading medical colleges In this coun
try and at some of the larger col
leges In Europe. The local chapter,
which, was Installed less than two
years ago, Is already a strong chap
ter. . The contract has been awarded at
Cornell for a new fire station to be
erected on the campus. It is the re
sult of the feeling that the university
needs better fire -protection, slnccf the
two fraternity houses were burned dur
ing the lasf year.
