The only argument I have in its favor is that it is a good .training for "politics." But are political ofllce grabbers so praisoworthy that a great university liko our own should train men to follow in their footstops? If so these men who chaBe around after overy little ofllco they can got, join every organization which will take them in are inspiring examples; Bear thought as it nmy, these Buffer from a severe attack of "swell" head when tho Cornhuskor comes out in the spring with a long list of titles (?) after their names. And this the season of the year when all healthy boys should be' having the spring fever. Tho worst part of our present sys tem is not that the level headed men whom we all know and like need the honors. They will probably be as well or better off- without them. But the poor fool who is elected, by his own begging of votes has his head turned by all this em ty giddiness and he at once reaches the conclusion that he Is a great man. And if his greatness is not appreciated hereafter (as in all probability it will not) aB It has been in the "Old Uni," he will be all the more convinced that the world sadly lacks that higher education he has heard so much about." He Is mistaken, at least about the western man. Paul Bell and Mj Aylswo'rlh were to take the negative, but owing to the fact that Mr. Bell is out of the city with the basket-ball team Mr. Aylsworth took the negative alone.
