Hhould ho given tho football team In
.recognition of their services on tho

Tho commlttuo huvlngthls matter In

tlon of tho studonvs, and Hocondarlly
upon tho menu, tho price of tho ban
quet Hhould bo low enough to en
courage a very largo attendance. In
for the University that the professfon
u characteristics of the St. Louis
team wan not more generally known
ho that our team and University would
not he placed In a false position at the
present time. We could not hope to
triumph over a team consisting for
the most part of men old, both in
years ar?d in the number of years of
participation in tho game, and who
further have ail other essential ear
marks of the so-called college pro
fessional. It would be -strange Indeed if a team
composed of young college men of
fiom two to three year's experience
on the gridiron should proceed to
show up a bunch like the Cochcm ag
gregation, whose experience In every
department of the game is the result
of many years play on the gridirons of
different schools. Nebraska does not
maintain that tho better team did not
win but we do Insist that ha far as
the championship of college football
In the Missouri Valley is concerned,
the St. Louis game cau not be considered.

CHAMPIONS.
Nebrarika closed tho football season
of 1907 at St. LouIh Thanksgiving day
In .n very crodltablo mannor In spite of
tho prevailing opinion to tho contrary.
Many pooplo after having road tho re
ports or tho game woro convinced that
Nebraska did not play a good gamo
on tho closing occasion. This Is, how
over, nbt the case. Nobraska playod
dosperqtoly nnd tho reason for tho ad
verso scoro Ib to bo found In the fact
that their opponents wore for tho most
liart professional athletes and can
not bo attributed 'to any fault of the
Cornhuskor eloven. It Ih unfortunate
winging, and will bo In evidence at.
